Rural house in switzerland 4 letters. Small rural house in the mountains of switzerland. Small rural house in the mountains of Switzerland

The word "chalet" was originally called a small rural house in the Alps, distinguished by its special architecture. "Chalet" was understood literally as "the shepherd's hut." It is believed that the architecture of the chalet originated in the southeast of France on the border with Switzerland and Italy (according to other sources, "chalets" appeared for the first time in Switzerland). However, the French themselves understand the chalet as a "Swiss house".

The design of the "chalet" as well as its interior space has become very popular. Small houses in the mountains became large, but the main design features of the chalet remained. The traditional features of the chalet interior have also remained practically unchanged.

One of the main reasons for the growth in popularity of chalet architecture in recent years is, apparently, the massive passion of people for skiing and recreation in ski resorts. Chalet has come to be associated with travel and prestigious tourism.

Chalets are being built in Canada, the USA, Germany and Russia. Moreover, "chalets" are being built even where there are no mountains. For example, in the Moscow region there are entire villages of Alpine-style houses.

The house was built from local natural materials: stone and wood (coniferous timber - pine or larch), lime was used as a whitewash for the plastered walls.

The high ground floor has always been built of stone. This was due to the need to reliably protect the house from cold, moisture, snow and, most importantly, to build the foundations and walls of the basement floor on any mountain slope. All subsequent floors, as a rule, the first and the attic, were collected from a massive coniferous timber (pine, larch). Over time, under the influence of the external environment: wind, snow, rain, sun, cold, the tree naturally became completely dark, tarred.

The facades facing bad weather could be sheathed with additional wood: chips or shingles - and looked sad because of the monotony of the natural dark wood color and the lack of additional decorations.

The most beautiful side of the house was the eastern façade. The gable roof ridge has always been oriented towards the sunrise. The most beautiful facade overlooked the valley. The walls facing the sunny side were plastered, painted with white lime, decorated with bright paintings, decorated with ledges, balconies, and carvings. Decorative ornaments, as a rule, were devoid of any pretentiousness. The motives for the painting had religious themes.

The architectural geometry is straightforward: they were built by hand. The roofs are sloping and strongly overhanging the vertical walls. This roof structure is not accidental: it protected the foundation, the walls of the house and the surrounding area from getting wet and snow. In winter, the snow was kept on the roof, evenly covering it. A snow coat was created to prevent heat from escaping from the house. Roofs were covered with shingles or shingles (thin wooden plates). From above they piled such a roof with stones so that it would not be carried away in bad weather, which is not so rare in the mountains.

The last floor is necessarily attic, with a sloped ceiling.

Terraces that extend far beyond the perimeter of the house and seem to hang over the valley are not uncommon. Forming a horizontal line relative to the mountain slope, they made it possible to increase the usable building area.

Balconies under low overhanging roofs could be very simple in decoration, deliberately rough or, on the contrary, decorated with perky carvings.

The chalet has many windows, and their size is rather big, which, in general, is typical for French architecture.

The central dominant place in the main hall or living room belongs to the fireplace.

Only natural materials are used in the decoration. Roughly plastered and whitewashed walls are decorated with wood paneling or just planks. The wood, mainly pine and larch, undergoes a special preparation that gives it the appearance of old and roughly worked, then tinted and waxed. The stone of local mountain origin is used in the decoration of fireplaces, floors and walls of the basement floors. The floors and walls of the first and attic floors are usually wooden. No bright high lighting, no second light. Everything is cozy, closer to the floor, to the fire. The colors are thick, juicy, but not bright, slightly muted. The main colors, the colors of the Earth, go well with wood, stone, forging, the color of natural unbleached linen and wool.

The furniture in a typical chalet is simple, rustic and rustic with unpolished surfaces.

Today the geography of the chalet has expanded to the most daring proportions. Chalets can be found on any continent and in almost any country. This style has become loved by many of the powerful. A large wooden chalet-style palace intended for the guests of honor of Sultan Abdulhamid is located in Turkey. Chalets are widely used in ski resorts in the United States, on the mountainous coasts of Italy and Spain. But the most "correct" "chalets", a kind of trendsetters, are in the heart of Europe - in France, Switzerland and Austria. The most famous resorts in these countries: Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Val d'Isere, Tignes, Chamonix (France); St. Moritz, Zermatt, Davos, Crans-Montana, Saas-Fee, (Switzerland); Lech, Mayerhofen, Sölden, Kitzbühel (Austria).
