Rayong (Thailand): reviews. The best beaches in Rayong: reviews. Thailand, Rayong province - “Rayong from the word “paradise”, story and photo” Traditional Thai holidays

The exclusive resort of Rayong is located about an hour's drive from Pattaya and 2.5 hours from Bangkok. The main motto of this worldwide famous resort- “Back to nature.” The first tourists to these parts appeared in the late eighties of the twentieth century.

In those days it was a quiet province. There were no countless supermarkets, comfortable hotels, banks, restaurants, not to mention striptease bars. All this appeared later, when the country’s tourism industry began to actively develop.

Beaches in Rayong so many that it is impossible to describe them all. It’s better to rent a motorcycle or just stroll along the coastline on foot and choose the beach to your liking. The most famous beaches of Rayong are Pala and Payun, where tall trees protect from the sun, Suan Son, located near the small fishing village of Ban Phe, Laem Charoen, in whose restaurants you can taste the best seafood. Those who want to go diving or snorkeling should go to, where you can see the bottom at a depth of 10 - 15 meters. The best beaches for swimming are Hat Phala and Hat Phayun in Koh Chang.

Those interested in temples will find plenty to offer in Rayong. Particularly interesting Pa Pradu Temple, in which you can admire a huge statue of Buddha leaning to the left. Not far from the market there is another very interesting Saranat Thammaram Temple. This temple houses one of the most beautiful halls in which ordination is held.

In the Prasair river delta area there are Somdet Krommaluang shrine temple. This temple was built in honor of the "Father of the Royal Thai Navy". Of great interest is the Phra Chedi Klang Nam Pagoda on the island of the Rayong River. Not far from this pagoda there is an interesting cave called Hao Wong. This cave has 80 separate chambers filled with stalagmites and stalactites.

The gardens and parks of Rayong are very interesting. So, for example, in botanical garden Sobha you can admire one of the largest collections of various plants and trees in Thailand. There are many ancient Thai houses here, which are literally buried in tropical vegetation. Exhibitions of Siamese art and antiques are regularly held here.

Those who are tired of excursions and the heat will be greeted by silence and coolness in Suphattra Land. This is a botanical and fruit garden located 18 km from Rayong. Here you can see how dark purple mangosteen, red rambutan, and durian grow.

For those who want to learn something new, we recommend taking an excursion to the Dok Krai reservoir. This reservoir is the center of development projects in the areas of animal husbandry, land, irrigation, fishing and Agriculture. Very interesting educational excursions are held here.

The aquarium in the city of Van Phe is very popular. Here you can see a lot of beautiful, interesting fish, horseshoe crabs, giant clams, crabs, and cuttlefish. The aquarium is home to a leatherback turtle, an olive turtle and a hawksbill turtle. Not far from the aquarium there is a fossil and fossil museum where you can see the remains of such rare animals as the Irrawaddy dolphin and the humpback dolphin.

If you come to Rayong on holiday, be sure to visit the local markets. These markets can be found in any fishing village, of which there are many around the city. At such markets you can buy seafood and various souvenirs made from sea shells.

Rayong Province - description of attractions and excursions
sights of Rayong, Thailand, Rayong province, excursions
Rayong province is located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, approximately 200 km from the capital of Thailand. This luxury resort town is located on the east coast of the country. The province is very popular among tourists.

It was clear from the map that it was very close to go, but I didn’t know exactly how to get there. I decided to ask the woman at the reception of my hotel in Ban Phe. It turned out that you can leave directly from the hotel by songthaew. To my surprise, a caring Thai woman not only showed me where the stop was, but also went with me to wait for the next minibus, waited, and put me on it :) To be honest, I was simply incredibly amazed at the kindness shown by a woman completely unknown to me ! I’m not sure that I could find this minibus myself, because... There were no signs in English.

In total, for 20 baht and about an hour we got to the bus station Rayong.

Route on the map:

I walked along the streets, and on the way I came across a half-empty market with pineapples for 10 baht:

As it turned out later, all the markets begin to actively work in the evening, after 16-17 hours, when the heat subsides.

The city is very lively, something like district center, center province of the same name Rayong.

Using Google maps as a guide, I walked to Tesco, where I had lunch at the food court (very, well, just very spicy food, almost like in a non-tourist area).

2. Hotel in Rayong - description and review

It was time to decide on housing. There was nothing suitable at the agoda; I didn’t see any signs along the way about rooms for rent. I found a report on the Internet where there was a description of one hotel, which was located just near Tesco. That's where I went.

Here it is necessary to say about the imperfections of Google maps. It has already happened several times that Google shows one location of an object, but in fact, this hotel/shop/something else is located in a completely different place. You need to double check and ask more local residents. In general, Google showed me one place where the selected hotel was located (I found it on the map by name), but the report described a completely different path.

After unsuccessful attempts to find the hotel using the Google tag, I finally found it, following the directions from the report.

Correct location of the hotel on the map:

The hotel is called Chomdao Hotel, the number is worth 500 baht per day(if you pay at the hotel itself, for some reason it’s a little more expensive through Agoda). This large hotel (6 floors) is owned by the Chinese, so it was very difficult to communicate with the reception (they don’t understand English at all).

If you walk/drive along the road Sukhumvit, then the sign serves as a guide Homemart:

If you face the sign, Sukhumvit is on the right and the street leading to the hotel is on the left

At the end of the street you need to cross a wide road and there will be a hotel right in front of you.

2.1. Photo of a budget hotel in Rayong

My room was on the 4th floor, a corner room, so the room had 2 windows:

The right window overlooks a vacant lot, and right outside the window there is a small balcony with clothes drying rods.

2.2. What's in the hotel

The room has:

  • Spacious shower with hot water
  • Large closet with lots of shelves
  • Air conditioner
  • Dining table with chairs
  • Small refrigerator
  • TV
  • There are only 3 sockets, 2 of which are used for the refrigerator and TV
  • Nets on windows
  • WiFi

Of the minuses of the room:

  • Terrible synthetic underwear;
  • In the evenings you can hear music from a karaoke bar, which is located behind a vacant lot (very loud, I couldn’t even sleep, it plays until about one in the morning).

Otherwise, everything is fine, I think there are always rooms there, the hotel is big. There are probably cheaper rooms without air conditioning, but it’s almost impossible to find out anything at the reception.

If you are interested in seeing what other hotels there are in Rayong, I advise you to look on the hotellook search engine website (there you can find the best deals from 40 booking systems; for example, there are 85 hotels in Rayong) or choose one of these hotels with a good rating:

3. Where to find food in Rayong (Tesco, market)

As for food, there is a huge Tesco not far from the hotel.

To get to it, you need to cross the road and follow this street until the Home Mart sign:

A narrow street leading from the hotel to Sukhumvit

Then you need to turn left and sooner or later you will reach Tesco.

Also, right behind Tesco in the evenings there is a night market, full of all kinds of ready-made food:

Lots of chopped fruit:

You can also just take fruit by weight:

Amazingly tasty and healthy shakes for 20-30 baht, most importantly, ask them to make it without sugar, otherwise they will definitely add it by default:

Shakes at the night bazaar in Rayong

There's even sushi:

There is also some not very pleasant food there, like fried insects, I won’t post photos, it’s disgusting.

After walking through the market, I came to a computer store:

Along the road you periodically see the following mini-temples:

The beaches are abandoned double impression. On the one hand, there is a small amount of garbage (both natural and bags, bottles), while the coast is cleaned daily. Rayong's tourist beaches are also cleaned, but less frequently. The cleanest and most well-groomed, in our opinion, is Phala Beach, where in some areas they even level the sand. The city beach of Laem Charoen is also practically free of garbage. But the wild Saeng Chan is completely dirty. There are no hotels or anything at all. We call it Oil Refinery Beach because the coast begins right at the gates of this enterprise. While swimming here, you can clearly see the oil rig with a torch on it.

The same goes for water purity. It’s hard to say where it’s dirtier: in Pattaya (where there are a lot of vacationers, but where there are no enterprises) or in Rayong (where there are a lot of factories, but in weekdays there are almost no people on the coast). In a word, you shouldn’t go here purely because of the beach and swimming in the sea. A leisurely atmosphere and Thais not spoiled by tourists - that’s the main thing at this resort.

But it is logical to assume that the clean beaches of Rayong are located far from the provincial capital. These include Phala Beach, Hat Suan Son and the most East End Mae Ramphueng. There are no businesses here and the sea is definitely better than in Pattaya.

Above is a list of the main beaches in Rayong, each article has a video and many photos so you can get your own idea. Links to hotels and interesting places located nearby.

Here are some good options for hotels in Rayong, located near the sea.

But it is famous for its beaches, stretching for 100 km along the entire coastline, and picturesque waterfalls in the jungle.

The beaches in Rayong province are very different. Mae Ramphuen Beach, which is 10 km long, has 5 safe surf spots for beginners. This province is famous for its holidays. In May-June you can go to the Rayong Fruit Fair - a variety of fresh fruits are brought to the city from the most remote villages. Fun competitions and fruit competitions are held. And in November the famous Phra Chedi Klang festival takes place. During this time, you can observe religious rituals, traditional boat races and much more. The action takes place in the temple of the same name, located on the Rayong River.
