Districts of Pattaya: description and location on the map. Open left menu pattaya Show pattaya in thailand

Every year tourists in Thailand have the same problems! They get into the same troubles in the same places, and then shout the guard on the forums. Long-livers answer: “What were you waiting for? It's always like that there"

For some reason, our tourists have the impression that Thailand is a very safe country. My first housemate generally insisted that here you can leave a running bike on the street, but don’t close the door to the house. I partially agree with him, because Thailand is much safer than Russia. Seriously, at 4 am in Pattaya on a dark street I feel calmer than during the day in St. Petersburg Kupchino.

But nevertheless, once every 2 weeks in the most popular VKontakte group about Pattaya a post appears “Attention! I was robbed” and describe the same scheme, in the same place. And this post immediately has a bunch of identical comments: “Yes, this has already been discussed a hundred times,” “Oh, well, you need to know such things,” “I had a case there too...”, etc.

Therefore, I will share with you those scams that are practiced in Thailand and Pattaya, as well as those places that are better to avoid.

The most dangerous place in Pattaya is the Ambassador Pattaya Hotel

Ambassador is one of the largest and most popular hotels among Russians in Pattaya. The hotel has its own huge territory, at the exit there is a large number of inexpensive cafes and souvenir shops, and opposite there is a large entertainment district called Mimosa. Everything would be fine, but it is all located on a busy highway. The worst thing there is the pedestrian crossing across the highway! Every week a person is killed at this crossing. I am not kidding! This transition is a branch of the devil. Imagine that in Moscow a zebra crossing would be allowed across the Moscow Ring Road, but without traffic lights or any identification marks at all. I hated this transition every time we drove along this highway. Here you are driving calmly for 100 km in a dense stream, and then the whole stream suddenly begins to slow down, as if in an accident: and pedestrians walked ahead without warning.

I ask you: Walk 200 meters - there is an overpass! The pedestrian crossing near Ambmassador is the most dangerous place in Pattaya.

Photo of the crossing from Google maps, an overpass can be seen in the distance. The traffic light never works!

Batman's house

There is one creepy, but very interesting place in Pattaya. Calls Batman's house. This used to be the trashiest club in Pattaya. It was opened by a Taiwanese with gold teeth using money stolen from the mafia. And according to rumors, a complete ata-tai was going on there! Child abuse and drug sales are the very tip of the iceberg. In the end, it turned out to be too much even for Pattaya and after 10 months the club was closed and the owner disappeared.

Now the club is inhabited by illegal migrants, drug addicts and prostitutes. Although the house has a very interesting appearance, it is not recommended to go into it; it is best to just ride past on a bike.

Robbery - Thieves on motorbikes

All Asians ride motorbikes very well, and they start riding openly on the streets at the age of 14, and the words “rules”, “logic”, “safety” are not about them at all. A lot of these youngsters make their living as theft. Those. During your walk, a motorbike with two youngsters is attached to you and at a certain moment they drive up very close - one snatches the bag, and the second revives on the gas. This situation in a tuk-tuk is very dangerous when it stops at a traffic light, and thieves drive up from behind and break the chain. If the chain is strong, it can seriously damage your neck.

Most often this situation happens with tourists, because... they carry large sums of money with them. Losing money in this case is just a frustration, but Many people carry passports in their purses, which is a big mistake.

Attacks - Bastards on motorbikes

As I already wrote in the post about ““, now in Pattaya there has grown up a generation of children who were born from whores. Sorry, but there is no other way to say it. Because these are gangs of young bastards without morals and fear, but with the desire to take other people's money.

These are not cowardly thieves who snatch a bag and leave, these are real bandits. They also track their prey, but if they fail to snatch the bag, they do not run away, but stop and attack. Sometimes with a knife, sometimes they throw stones at your head. But more often they throw the victim off the motorbike (when the victim is driving), i.e. they simply catch up and kick the bike down, and while the victim comes to his senses, they search his pockets.

Teenagers aged 14-18 also do this; they are still afraid of attacking men or couples. But attacks on single women driving a bike occur once a month.

Theft

There is a lot of theft in Thailand! They steal bikes in hotels, things on the beach, they steal from apartments and houses! Every year similar topics appear on the forums! In Pattaya, helmets are most often stolen from shopping centers when the owners simply leave them on the seat and do not fasten them, and bikes are also stolen there (It takes no more than 40 seconds to steal any bike). The same goes for houses in Thai villages - they are surrounded regularly, even with cameras and security, because... The cameras most often do not work, and there is an unguarded loophole into the village.

Choose condos with access cards and houses in well-guarded villages. Otherwise, keep your money in a safe and your jewelry in safe deposit boxes at the bank. By the way, V, this will help with the theft of a motorbike and the theft of a handbag, just throw it inside and install an application that can track the loss. The Thais don’t yet know what it is, so the chance of returning things is 99%.

Cheating - Jet Skiing

One of the most popular beach scams in Pattaya. So popular that jet ski owners were called the mafia. How it all happens: You rent a jet ski, and then either when you return it, you find a large scratch on the bottom, or during the ride the wiring comes loose and the motorcycle stalls. The seller starts demanding money - from 1000 to 5000 baht, and if you don’t immediately reach into your wallet, then more and more locals appear from somewhere. About 10 locals instantly gather around you, yelling, shaking their fists, threatening the police, and you are standing on vacation, your wife and child are vacationing nearby and you don’t want all these problems at all. Therefore, tourists almost always pay a “ransom”. If you go to the island of Koh Larn, then there is a 90% chance that you will be scammed like that, because... There are no police on the beaches and no one will really help you.

There are cases when people still drag bike owners to the police, but the outcome is not clear and very much depends on the policeman. They may force you to pay, or they may send the owner of the motorbike. Remember that no matter how menacingly the scooter owners wave their fists, they will not attack you (the main thing is not to be rude to them), because the police know everything about their scams and if they touch a tourist, their shop will immediately close. Therefore, option 3: go to the police and hope for luck, or pay these extortionists, or politely send everyone away and go home (they will not leave you until the ship to Pattaya).

And the best thing in Pattaya is not to take a jet ski at all!

Fraud with bank cards (interesting case)

Scrimming, or theft of bank card data, is almost a national pastime in Thailand, because... Street cameras have not yet been developed here, and the IT police work very poorly, so scammers from all over the world come here. Cases of theft are completely different, the most unusual I have seen are the following: A thief gets on a night bus who is watching foreigners, their targets are tourists who have just arrived and are traveling full of money. When the tourist falls asleep, the thief takes cards and cash out of his bag, asks him to stop the bus and transfers into the prepared car (She either follows him from Bangkok itself, or waits at the appointed place), then the car vomits to the nearest electronics store and empties it overnight cards, the tourist discovers the loss only in the morning, or on the highway at night, where he can do nothing.

Deception - Rent a motorbike on a whip.

I heard about such a scam most often on the beach (beach street in Pattaya), where many drunk tourists take bikes for a ride. There are several places there where they rent very cool sports bikes or Harleys. The deposit is only a passport. The scam is the same as with a jet ski, you are either shown a large scratch somewhere under the bottom, or this scratch is slightly painted over and the paint will immediately fall off when riding. In general, do not take a bike to Bichka! Better google who Auntie Tiom is (not to be confused with “Russian Thai Tom”). Auntie Tiem is a very kind and good Thai woman who will never cheat and rents motorbikes in Pattaya.

Kathoi attacks

Katoyami in Thailand are called transvestites. Those. boys who became girls. For many, katoi is still exotic, and unpleasant at that. The next time you decide to tease a tranny, remember that this is, first of all, a man who is on hormonal pills, who is insulted during the day, and at night they do things that no healthy person can stand. Therefore, katoeys very often attack tourists. These include robberies and banal fights.

In general, all long-lived people advise staying away from the cathoi. It never ends well.

Deception - Changing money in a taxi

The point is that when dropping you off, the taxi driver stops very poorly, most often at some busy intersection, or right in front of a traffic light, in general, so that they start honking at him, and you are in a hurry. You give the taxi driver the money, turn to the exit, but they don’t let you get out - the taxi driver shows the money in his hand, and there is 100 or 200 baht missing. And recently a smiling taxi driver with the same smile and bewilderment asks you to pay the bill, dissatisfied beeps come from behind and you are completely confused. Most often, people think that they really mixed up the new money, but in fact the taxi driver replaced them.
Shake your finger at the taxi driver, say “Ay-ay-ay” and get out. The taxi driver knows that he cheated and no one will chase you

Deception - Attraction is closed

This is found everywhere in Asia! If you take a taxi to some attraction, the taxi driver will tell you that it is closed, but for a small fee he will take you around amazing places that are usually not shown to tourists.

I get caught all the time. We smile and tell the taxi driver that you will go and have a look anyway =)

Deception - Selling drugs

There is a death penalty for selling drugs in Thailand! But for many years now there has been a boy walking on the beach street in Pattaya who, with an unequivocal gesture, offers to buy “dope” from him. Periodically, some unafraid idiot buys from him, then the guy steps into the shadows, takes out his phone and calls the police, to whom he turns over this idiot for a reward. If you decide to buy drugs anywhere in Thailand, there is a 99% chance that you will be handed over to the police.

Welcome to the land of smiles

Despite all this, Thailand remains as friendly and smiling! what is described above can be found in any other country in the world, but I wrote this so that you would be more careful! After Russian tensions, ours are too relaxed in Thailand and become victims of scammers! Be kind to people, but know where they want to deceive you!

Have a nice holiday 😉

Pattaya is the most famous resort in Thailand. And once upon a time it was a small fishing village on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, 147 km away. From Bangkok. The situation changed during the Vietnam War. US troops were stationed not far from the village. It was with their appearance that the construction of bars and hotels began in Pattaya.

Tourists associate Pattaya with freedom and pleasure. This is precisely why more than 2 million people flock here every year. Some people prefer to live in hotels (there are hundreds of them here), others rent apartments and houses. It all depends on desires, preferences and wallet sizes. Foreigners are very popular, as for locals they are the main source of income.

Thailand has a tropical climate and enjoys wonderful weather all year round. It is believed that from April to November it is the rainy season in Thailand and the flow of tourists there is sharply reduced. In fact, during this period the air temperature drops by only 3–4°C, and the rains begin and end quickly. The prices for travel packages and the cost of renting accommodation for those traveling on their own are sharply reduced.

Pattaya: City of Entertainment

Unlike the islands of Thailand, prices in Pattaya are very affordable, and there is also all possible entertainment. Bars and restaurants are open until the morning.

Holidays Pattaya attracts with permissiveness and accessibility. Beach lovers, scuba diving enthusiasts, culture connoisseurs, as well as people seeking unusual sexual sensations and adventures come here. Yes, yes, Pattaya is the sex tourism capital of the world. And it all started with those same American soldiers. To earn money, and it should be noted that Thailand was the poorest country, girls came here from all over the kingdom. But if earlier they made money through prostitution in order not to starve, now, in order to have fun, they buy new clothes and housing.

Life in the city begins closer to midnight, and it is very colorful. Famous Pattaya Walking Street- the most popular street, which is open to vehicles from morning until 7 pm, and in the evening it becomes completely pedestrian. This is where all the entertainment venues and restaurants of the city are concentrated.

Here they walk all over the street prostitutes in Pattaya, who for a small fee (this is how to negotiate) will kindly agree to create a campaign. Only the most beautiful of them will turn out to be men. More precisely, former men. The third gender has become commonplace in modern Thailand. This is an intermediate state between a man and a woman. The third gender includes both transvestites (men in women's dresses) and transsexuals (people who have undergone gender reassignment surgery). A few transsexuals call themselves the third gender, the majority consider themselves women.

An ex-man is called a kata or ladyboy in Thailand. The main part of the artists of the world famous shows Alcazar and Tiffany are transsexuals. True, their career does not last long. Rarely does anyone go out dancing over the age of 35.

Thais love holidays and fun. They live by the principle that pleasure in life is more important than plans for the future. This attitude towards life is almost instantly transmitted to tourists.

Pattaya was chosen by European residents, mainly Germans. There are a lot of European pensioners who moved to the city for permanent residence.

Where is the best place to stay in Pattaya?

This city is not for a relaxing holiday with children, due to the noisy nightlife. People who come for entertainment and shopping prefer to settle in the center - then all shopping centers, clubs, cafes will be within walking distance. Few people dare to swim in the bay in this area - everyone prefers to go to the islands.

Pattaya is divided into several districts:

  • Northern;
  • Central;
  • Southern;
  • Jomtien;
  • Pratumnak;
  • Naklua;
  • the area north of Sukhumvit (the main highway).

Pattaya City Center- this is the place where all the discos, bars, cabarets are concentrated. There is also the largest number of hotels from economy to luxury.

The southern area is famous for Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier, from where you can take a ferry or boat to Koh Larn.

The most prestigious area of Pratumnak, it is very fond of rich Russian tourists. Pratumnak is replete with luxury hotels and villas. The famous Big Buddha Hill is also located here.

The Jomtien area is located partly outside the city and is more suitable for family holidays; it is quiet and peaceful here compared to other areas of the city. This is where the largest hotel complex, Ambassador City, is located.

Naklua is the northernmost part of Pattaya and the quietest, there are no nightclubs or discos. Because of its tranquility, it was chosen by older Europeans.

In the area beyond Sukhumvit live the Thais themselves and experienced tourists who prefer to relax according to their own rules and spend several months in Thailand. Prices in hotels and on the market are much lower here. This is affected by the lack of tourist flow.

Which islands do tourists go to and how to get to them from Pattaya?

Few people dare to swim in the sea, especially in the center of Pattaya, because of the dirty water. Because of this, swimming in the Gulf of Thailand is prohibited in some places due to very dirty water. Therefore, all tourists during the day go either on excursions, or to shops and shopping centers, or to nearby islands, where you can see snow-white sand and crystal clear water.

Everyone prefers to swim and sunbathe on the island. Ko Lan. They get there either by boat or by ferry. They depart from Bali Hai Pier, which is located at the end of Walking Street. On small boats a round trip will cost 300–400 baht, on a ferry - 30.

Ferries leave every hour. The last one picks people up from the island at 18.00. This method is cheaper, but more extreme, since all people move from the ferry to a large boat, which transports them to the pier. The extreme begins in the evening, when everyone returns to the city. Tourists prefer to stay on the island until the last minute, and then attack these boats with the whole crowd.

Prices on the island for food and drinks are much more expensive, but there really is a crystal clear sea, white sand and order.

How to get around the city?

There will be no problems getting around Pattaya, even if the hotel is located in a remote area of the city. Mostly tourists travel independently by taxi, tuk tuk or motorbike. In many large stores and restaurants you can get a free city map. It is better to carry it with you: this will make it easier to explain to a taxi driver or motorbike driver where you want to go. Many of them know only a few foreign words: “Ok”, “one hundred baht”, “two hundred”, “fifty”, etc. So a trip from one end of the city to the other on a bike will cost about 100 baht, in the center - 40 –50 baht.

The first trip will cause a colossal level of adrenaline to be released - in Pattaya, only tourists notice the traffic lights. Locals don't pay any attention to them and refuse to believe that you need to stop at a red light. Motorbikers are very nimble, they choose side streets, small streets to reduce travel time, but will definitely get you to your destination.

Traveling by taxi is more expensive. But if a campaign consists of several people, then the price becomes very reasonable. But it’s better to negotiate the price before the trip - this is almost a prerequisite. And don’t be shy about bargaining with taxi drivers; they will be happy to argue with you a little. If you use an official taxi with checkers, it is better to say that you will only go according to the meter. Otherwise, the price will be significantly higher. Many large stores are willing to provide a free taxi if you plan to shop with them. Information about this is often printed on the same booklet with a map of Pattaya.

The most common transport is tuk tuk. These are pickup trucks that have rear seating for passengers in the form of two benches facing one another. Each tuk tuk has its own route, it travels along it slowly and picks up everyone who asks to stop. A wave of your hand will be a signal for the driver to pick up a new passenger. Naturally, there are no stops, everyone can get off wherever they want. The fare for a tuk tuk is 20 baht. In the evening, many drivers work as taxi drivers, so you need to bargain with them.

What kind of money is in use and where is the best place to change it in Pattaya?

In Thailand they love dollars and euros. Rubles can also be exchanged, but the exchange rate will not be favorable, and it will be impossible to buy anything with rubles. The ruble to baht exchange rate is almost 1:1, despite the economic crisis in both the Russian and Thai economies. The highest baht to ruble exchange rate is at airports. But tourists have no choice; they will have to change, since they will have to buy a ticket for a bus or taxi.

There are many exchange offices on the streets of Pattaya where you can exchange dollars for baht. There won't be any problems with this.

Food in Pattaya: Should you eat on the street?

All Pattaya hotels, with rare exceptions, offer only buffet breakfast, included in the price of the tour. You can also have lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurants, but for an additional fee.

Drinking tap water is strictly prohibited. Bottled version is sold in all stores.

As for alcohol, the most popular are local beer and Thai rum Sang Som. Beer prices are the same as in Russia. The average price for a bottle of local is 47 baht.

Every major shopping center has areas with cafes where you can have a fairly affordable and hearty meal. There is a chain of Seven Eleven stores throughout Pattaya, where you can find almost everything. These small shops are filled with goods: both food and household chemicals.

Throughout the city, right on the sidewalks, there are numerous street cafes with tables, of which there are no more than 3-4. As a rule, locals eat there, since Thais do not like to cook at home. Tourists who want to save money also love these places. For 100 baht for lunch or dinner you can get a 30-centimeter catfish with vegetable salad.

Just one thing you should pay attention to: food in Thailand is very spicy and not every European stomach can handle it. You should definitely ask for it to be cooked without spices. “No spice” - this phrase will be enough for the Thai to understand that you do not want spices.

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Pattaya, for every taste and budget. Remarkable fact: the most expensive restaurants in Pattaya are Russian.

Thailand is famous for its exotic fruits. They can be bought everywhere, but the cheapest prices will be in markets where they are purchased locally. The price tag here will be 3-4 times less than in a tent at some large store.

What is the best month to go to Pattaya?

The city welcomes guests all year round. The rainy season is a typical phenomenon in Thailand, but you should only be wary of it in September and October, when floods are possible.

The high season begins in December and ends in April. It is in April that many tourists try to get to Pattaya, as this month Thais celebrate the Thai New Year. This is an unforgettable event in which, without exaggeration, the entire city participates.

Budget tourists choose May to visit Pattaya. It still rarely rains this month, and prices for hotels and food are much lower.

For many years, Pattaya has held the lead in popularity among tourists from many countries. It has everything you need for a good rest - nightlife, a rich excursion program and several beaches of fairly good quality.

Now the city is losing points in comparison with Phuket, Krabi province and Koh Samui. But, nevertheless, it makes sense to look at the city in a new way, because there is a lot of interesting things here. In recent years, two modern water parks have been built, magnificent tigers await visitors at the Si Racha Zoo, and popular national shows constantly update the program.

Although the city beaches of Pattaya may not seem picturesque enough for the sophisticated tourist, this is still the gentle coastline of the Gulf of Thailand. It is warm here all year round, there is an abundance of delicious exotic fruits, and hospitable Thais always welcome guests.

The best hotels and inns at affordable prices.

What to see and where to go in Pattaya?

The most interesting and beautiful places for walks. Photos and brief description.

The Buddha statue is located on a hill in the center of Pattaya between two city beaches. This attraction is definitely included in sightseeing tours of the city. The statue was erected with funds from local businessmen in 1977. The monument reaches 15 meters in height and 10 meters in width. To get to the statue and the observation area, you need to climb a staircase of 120 steps. The Big Buddha stands surrounded by small statues of the god, which represent virtues.

The Temple of Truth is home to several religions, the internal space is divided into 4 halls: Thai, Indian, Chinese, Cambodian.

The temple was built to show respect to the royal Chakri dynasty and is therefore under the care of the royal family. Sri Fueng Fung, who took the plot of the book “The Three Kingdoms” as the basis. The park has an art gallery and a museum of petrified trees. The design of the area is made in a mixed Chinese and Thai style.

A sheer rock 130 meters high with a flat face on which the image of Buddha is inscribed in gold. The place is carefully guarded, as $3 million worth of precious metal was purchased for this purpose. It never even occurs to local Thais to “get” a piece of gold from the sacred image; apparently, the authorities are afraid of the numerous tourists. There is a small cozy square around the rock, equipped with benches and gazebos.

Silver Lake or Silver Lake is rather a popular place to visit among Thais; there are very few foreigners here. The park's territory is decorated with windmills, sculptures, gazebos, pavilions and flower alleys. There are shops and restaurants inside the pavilions.

For those who are especially timid, they offer tickets to closed cabins, in which it is not so scary to fly down.

The attraction is located approximately 7 km. from Pattaya. This is a small village where elephants and mahouts coexist harmoniously. Visitors are invited to observe the daily life of these huge animals, as well as watch performances where they play elephant football or parade. There is also a special show where wild elephants are caught in the jungle.

A place where snakes are kept for the purpose of producing medicinal potions from their blood and venom. The farm does not breed reptiles; they are all caught in the swamps or jungles. In total, 15 species of snakes live in the cages, including the viper, king cobra, and Indian krait. At the end of the excursion, the tourist can take a souvenir photo with a harmless python or buy snake tincture in the souvenir shop. There is also the opportunity to watch a show during which an experienced trainer dodges deadly bites.

Tourists sunbathe on the beach, visit numerous shops and stroll along palm alleys.

There are numerous restaurants where you can try all the cuisines of the world, night bars, entertainment shows, cinemas, shops and massage parlors.

Famous drag queen shows that take place several times a week at night. Actors give performances in colorful costumes against the backdrop of breathtaking scenery. According to many viewers, the transvestites participating in the show are much more attractive than Thai women. Tiffany's show takes place in a more classical manner with respect for decorum; on the Alcazar the actors take some liberties.

The beach is about 4 km long, which is considered one of the best in Pattaya and the surrounding area. Mostly 5-star hotels have settled along its perimeter. Wongamat is a fairly calm place with relatively clean water; there is no noise and bustle here, like on other city beaches. It is located away from the shops, so there is not much trash here. Wongamat is also a popular beach volleyball venue.

One of the city beaches, very popular among tourists. Because of this, it is always crowded and noisy here. There are numerous shops and cafes along the promenade along the beach. Unfortunately, over many years of operation, this place has acquired the reputation of a beach that is not very suitable for swimming due to water pollution, but many tourists like to swim here. Most people stroll along the promenade among the palm trees, or sunbathe on sun loungers.

An island in the Gulf of Thailand, located near Pattaya. Numerous boats are on duty at Jomtien Beach, ready to take tourists for a swim in the clear waters near Koh Larn. The cheapest way is to get there in half an hour by ferry for a few tens of baht. If time is valuable, then you can use a “speed bot” for a few hundred baht. There are several beaches on Koh Larn island. They are really much cleaner than those in Pattaya.

The zoo was opened in 1997 and has since received about 10 million visitors. About 450 Bengal tigers live on the territory of the menagerie. In addition to representatives of the cat family, elephants, donkeys, crocodiles, giraffes and other animals live here. Visitors are allowed to hold the little tiger cub and bottle feed it. You can also take a newborn crocodile, which is an exact copy of an adult animal, only it fits in one palm.

Khao Kheo is one of the largest and most popular zoos in Thailand. On its territory, animals live in open, spacious enclosures; they are not locked in cages. Dangerous predators are fenced off with bars or wide ditches of water for the safety of visitors. It is convenient to travel along the paths in an electric car to be able to see more, since the zoo is really huge.

On the territory of Ramayana there are not only water attractions. A complete entertainment infrastructure has been created here for visitors of all ages. The water park opened in 2016. Tourists can visit the impromptu floating market, stroll along the river bank, go through the Green Maze, or take a trip to the Mysterious Island. For children from 6 months to 6 years old, the water park has a mini-town.

29. Cartoon Network Amazone Water Park

A new water park in Pattaya, which opened in 2014. The project was funded by the popular children's channel Cartoon Network. The water park has 10 thematic zones with slides of varying difficulty - from extreme to safer. Shows featuring popular cartoon characters are held every day at special venues. The water park is located near Nong Nooch Park.

Pratumnak Hill rises 98 meters above the city. You can get to the observation deck by overcoming a not very long, but quite steep climb. There are two points on the hill from where you can look at the panorama of Pattaya. They are located at different heights. From there you can take magnificent photos against the backdrop of the blue waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

Everything about the city of Pattaya for tourists - the main advantages, disadvantages. Who is this resort suitable for and what time of year should you go there? Entertainment, attractions, prices, beaches, money, transport - and much more! Comprehensive information for tourists - the nuances and subtleties of relaxation.

Pattaya is a small but very popular resort city in Thailand, located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. It is located in the southeast of the country, near the capital of the kingdom - Bangkok. They are separated by only 160 km. It has an immodest role - it is recognized as a city of sins, entertainment and debauchery. By the way, unbridled fun will be much cheaper than at other resorts in Thailand.

The city's territory is small - only 22 km². According to official data, about 120,000 people permanently live there. In fact, the population is approaching 500,000 people. Pattaya is divided into districts: Naklua, Central (Wongamat), North (Naklua), South (Pratumnak) Pattaya and Jomtien.

For residents of large Russian cities, Pattaya may seem like a small village with modest, unimproved areas. In comparison: the area, for example, of Saratov: 394 km². It is worth considering that this is far from the largest village in Russia.

“The main thing is not size, but convenience and comfort,” you say. And rightly so. Despite the fact that the city is located in the industrial section of the east coast of Thailand, the main source of income is tourism. But even with this there are small problems. Read about everything below!

Who is the Pattaya resort suitable for - advantages and disadvantages

  • Undoubtedly, you should start getting acquainted with the land of smiles from Pattaya, because:
  • This is where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the country as much as possible;
  • Join the flavor of Asia with all its disadvantages and advantages;
  • Go on many sightseeing, popular excursions;
  • It’s great to “break away”, changing the atmosphere of working, boring days.

Among the advantages can be noted:

  • Comparatively cheap accommodation, food, entertainment;
  • Direct flights (charter flights), proximity to the airport in Bangkok (scheduled flights);
  • Huge selection of entertainment venues for adults;
  • There are a large number of islands around, and they have good transport accessibility.

Everyone has their own shortcomings. The most obvious ones, no matter how funny it may sound, stem from the advantages:

  • Constant noise and commotion on the streets. Especially relevant in the center;
  • Pollution of the sea, pedestrian roads on the streets;
  • Relatively low quality of service;
  • Large crowds, queues for popular shows/entertainment.

This is most noticeable during the “peak” season. To summarize, Pattaya is suitable for:

  • Active recreation without children;
  • Young people who want to have fun day and night;
  • Lonely young people;
  • Those for whom a beach holiday is not in the first place.

When is the best time to vacation in Pattaya – climate, weather

As such, no one will ever give you accurate forecasts. In general, in Thailand it is summer all year round. In Pattaya, this statement is most relevant, because the hot tropical climate is most stable in this part of the country. The monsoon season, which is most noticeable from November to May, is usually less vibrant than in other resorts in the country. Objectively, taking into account the possible variations of recreation and a lot of entertainment in Pattaya, you can fly to this place at any time of the year.

However, there is a conditional “peak season”, which falls in the winter months. At this time, there is less rain in Pattaya, and clouds in the sky are rare guests. You should know that in the “high season” prices skyrocket several times.

When is the best time to go to Pattaya? If you are looking for adventure, relaxing in bars, clubs, massage and erotic salons, the “reasonable” time for relaxation is summer, spring. As mentioned earlier, during the generally accepted “off-season”, prices drop significantly.

If you plan to visit the surrounding area, travel to the islands, or depart from this location on long excursion programs, for example, to the Similan Islands, it is optimal to go in the winter months.

Book trips, accommodation and excursions in advance. Before the New Year holidays, all offers are selling like hot cakes.

What is the sea like in Pattaya - beach holiday

Geographically, Pattaya is located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, which, in turn, flows into the South China Sea, then into the Pacific Ocean.

The beach area does not imply a relaxing, family holiday. In addition, the water in this area is quite dirty - household and “natural” garbage. The situation is aggravated by a large concentration of boats, boats, and large barges.

To say that there is no sea in Pattaya is not fair. But you will hardly find famous beaches “like in the picture”. The exception is locations that are located outside the resort, which cannot be reached by the usual Thai route taxis - tuk-tuks.

Also, the solution is a trip to neighboring islands. Fortunately, there are many of them. And yet, when choosing Pattaya with the implication of a relaxation holiday, or a vacation involving a calm, beach holiday, pay attention to hotels with good, large swimming pools.

Excursions, entertainment

Definitely, Pattaya is considered one of the most popular resorts in Thailand. Thousands of tourists come here every day. Where there is great demand, there will be supply.

One of the most fun activities is elephant riding

The excursion menu is simply “bursting with offers.” It is because of this fact that many tourists choose this location. Why is that? It's simple! The geographical location of Pattaya is the most favorable in relation to excursion sites. In addition, Pattaya became the first city to “grow up” to receive guests. The palm led to the opening of many travel agencies, and as a result, the organization of many programs.

The English language is not held in high esteem by the Thais. It is quite difficult to find a person who speaks this language fluently. Don't you own it either? Refer to sign language.

Everything is clear with the excursions, you definitely won’t have any problems. Exactly the same as with the choice of entertainment venue for a night out.

All over the world, Pattaya is recognized as one of the most vibrant locations for nightlife, including intimate ones. As they say, for every taste and color - whoever is looking for what. Extravagant shows “Alcazar” and “Tiffany” are suitable for married couples. For youth groups there are numerous clubs scattered throughout the city. For single guys looking for sex adventures, there are many customer-oriented bars with far from modest girls.

Attractions

As such, you will not find attractions with a celebrity level a la the Eiffel and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. There are no large-scale cultural and historical sites within the city. Interesting locations that can be classified as attractions include Big Buddha, the Temple of Truth, the floating market and Mini Siam.

Correctly pronounced with emphasis on the last vowel - Pattaya.

In addition to Pattaya attractions, you can “capture” the main tourist sites of Bangkok. Fortunately, the city is only two hours away.

Food, cafes, restaurants

There are many cafes with different cuisines, price ranges and levels of service. Lots of street food establishments, Thai fast foods and merchants wandering along the beach. You definitely won't have any problems choosing a place for an evening meal.

Please note that the vast majority of hotels in Thailand operate on a BB system - breakfast only.

Prices in Pattaya, money, ATMs

In Pattaya, as throughout Thailand, the Thai baht (THB) is used. Upon arrival, it is advisable to exchange money for local currency. Payment in dollars/rubles can only be made at street souvenir shops. Official establishments, local supermarkets and tour agencies will send you to the exchange office.

There is an opinion that prices in Pattaya are cheap. No matter how it is. In addition to the jump in the exchange rate, which is not in our favor, holidays in this city are becoming more expensive every year. Of course, in comparison with other resorts in Thailand, Pattaya is recognized as one of the cheapest locations.

As for automated teller machines (ATM), there will be no problems with them either. On every street there are points for issuing funds and various exchange points.

Before leaving, notify your bank that you are heading to Thailand. Without doing this, the bank's security service may block the card for “suspicious transactions” in an unnatural place for you.

Shopping, markets

Shopping in Pattaya is multifaceted. This word maximally reflects the essence of the local “buy and sell”. There is room for any merchant here. Starting from presentable middle and business class shopping centers - offering clothes, equipment and products at fixed prices, ending with night markets - selling their goods for pennies.

Pattaya markets have very cheap clothes. For example, shorts can be bought for 150 baht, a swimsuit for 100 baht, slippers for 150 baht.

For tourists who want to do some serious shopping, we remind you that when leaving Thailand you can return the VAT (7%) paid upon purchase.

Transport

The most popular and cheapest way to get around is the tuk-tuk, a Thai minibus. Initially, such transport does not inspire confidence - questionable, unapproved routes, low driving safety. In fact, there is no alternative option. There is no other public transport in Pattaya. For example, the usual ones for us - a regular bus, tram or trolleybus.

A tuk-tuk ride costs 10 baht. The price doubles for travel to remote areas.

However, there is a more widely used transportation option - a motorbike. Daily rent will cost 200-300 baht. This method of transportation is relevant for those who know how to drive and are not afraid of chaotic, dense traffic.

Of course, as in all cities of the world, in Pattaya you can take a taxi on the street or order it through an application, for example, Uber.

Mobile communications, internet

In Pattaya, as in the whole of Thailand, there are three cellular operators. Depending on the choice of tariff, calls within the network will cost 1-3 baht, while calls abroad will cost from 10 baht. Tariffs that include mobile Internet cost around 25 baht/day.

You can purchase SIM cards at any sales office of the selected operator, or at 7-eleven supermarkets. To choose the optimal tariff “for yourself”, consult with the seller. Depending on your goals (calls abroad/within the network/mobile Internet), he will select the most advantageous prepaid tariff option for you. !

Please keep in mind that SIM card registration is not possible without a passport.

Wi-fi is available in almost every cafe, restaurant, and hotel. As a rule, the data transfer speed is sufficient for communicating via instant messengers, loading websites, and searching for the necessary information.

The sights of Pattaya are amazing and accessible to any tourist. You will want to see some things in Pattaya on your own, but somewhere else, on the contrary, it is more profitable to go with a tour. In any case, for convenience of choice, I wrote this article in which you will find all the most interesting attractions of Pattaya and a map in Russian, find out the entrance prices, and how to get to them. Sights of Pattaya and what to see in Pattaya

Observation platforms

The Big Buddha and Wat Phra Khao Yai Temple is located on Pratumnak Hill, at an altitude of 120 meters. It was not chosen by chance. You will have to climb 120 steps to clear your karma and get to the observation deck.
At the foot of the temple there is a Chinese park dedicated to Lao Tzu and a statue of the goddess of mercy Guan Yin. It is customary for her to tell her about her failures and ask for help in business and love.
Speaking of magic and help. Right next to the steps, for 100 baht, Thais sell sparrows in cages, which are usually released into the wild after climbing onto the observation deck. Before releasing the birds, you should mentally make a wish.
To attract wealth and money, at the lookout you need to find the Chinese god Hotei (with a fat belly) and try to throw a coin into his navel. Judging by his shabby belly, there are a lot of people who want to get rich quickly!

How to get?

If you are vacationing on Pratumnak, you can easily reach it on foot. A visit to the Big Buddha is also included in the free sightseeing tour.
Big Buddha on the map:

If you want to take beautiful photos as a souvenir, drink delicious coffee and enjoy the views, come to Pratumnak Hill. There are 3 good viewing platforms here. I have already described the first one - at the big Buddha,
the second is located almost opposite the entrance to the Royal Cliff Hotel.

A huge inscription - Pattaya is the visiting card of the city, which is on any postcard. At this observation point you can see the Gulf of Thailand, the Bali Hai Pier, there are benches and an open-air gym nearby.

In order to get here, you need to walk up the hill from the tour policy booth and the rocking chair on the street. On Pratamnak there is an intersection from which “rays” diverge. One leads to the big Buddha, the second to the observation deck at the admiral.
The climb is quite steep, but worth it. You can get there on foot, by bike or by car.

The views of Pattaya and the bay are simply the best in the city! And as you know, all the best things are free.

Also here, from morning until 6 pm, my favorite coffee shop, Coffe Break, is open, where you can not only drink coffee at a communist price, but also admire the beautiful views as much as you like.

Pattaya has many great hotels with stunning views.
The best panoramic view, of course, is from the Hillton Hotel, which rises above the Festival shopping center in the very center.

For those who don't know, the bar has happy hours every day from 5-7pm where you can get a 2-for-1 cocktail. A great opportunity to admire the view of Pattaya from the 32nd floor and the time is perfect - the sunsets in the city are incredible.

Farms with animals in Pattaya

You can see all the farms and zoos in Pattaya either independently or with a guided tour. If you have a Thai driver's license and transport, it may work out cheaper on your own; if not, it's better to buy an excursion, the prices are reasonable.

In my opinion, the best farm with animals is located 10 km from Pattaya. You can't get there by public transport; he doesn't go there.
On the sheep farm there are not only sheep, but also a new bird park, a magical town with fairy-tale characters, catamarans, cafes, and many other animals that you can feed by hand. As well as a trampoline, a Ferris wheel and other entertainment.

Entrance to the farm - 50 baht, feeding, entrance to the bird park, magic town - for an additional fee. fee.

With a sheep farm excursion – 600 baht for adults and 400 for children (90-120cm).

Sheep farm on the map:

For those boys who are fans of horses and cowboys and girls who love the cartoon Little Pony. The park is designed in this theme. Many horses live here and a very cool cowboy show with horse tricks and fire is shown several times a day. Children (and adults too) are absolutely delighted.

Entrance on your own is a little expensive - 400 baht.
Included in several children's excursions or as an independent “dish” for 600 baht with transfer.

Good options for getting out for a walk with the kids. There are almost no animals on the Greta farm now (only rabbits, parrots and swans), but there is a playground and a children's room (100 baht entrance).
Entry is free.

Vander Farm is a place a couple of kilometers from Greta, where you can take a walk with your children, feed animals and birds, and sit in a cafe.
Entry is free.

Swiss Farm is a typical Thai farm with beautiful interiors, animals you can feed, a coffee shop and a number of other entertainments.
Entrance – 180 baht for adults and 90 for children.

Swiss farm – Swiss farm in Pattaya photo

You can only get to all these farms on your own.

If I were choosing which of these farms to go to with my children, I would choose not just one farm at a time, but the “Children's Adventures” excursion, which includes visits to the Teddy Bear Museum, a sheep farm and a visit to the Pippo Pony Club.
Price – 1000 adults and 700 children.

Pattaya Zoos

The best zoo in Pattaya is, of course, the Khao Kheow Open Zoo. Located 45 km from Pattaya, half-day excursions and evening safaris are available there.

You can feed all the animals (and there are more than a hundred species) and take photos with them. Rare animals include koalas, binturongs, tapirs and others.

They conduct shows - bathing elephants, shows with animals, feeding penguins and birds.

tapir in Khao Kheo

If you go on your own, the entrance price is about 300 baht + 50 baht for car entry.
With a tour, the price is 600 baht including round-trip transfer, tickets to the show and movement around the park.

The new tiger zoo in Pattaya is an opportunity to interact with real tigers and take photos with them right in the enclosure. Do not be afraid, tigers have been raised for generations by professional breeders, who not only carefully raise them without the use of special means, but are also with you when you visit these felines.
The difference between this tiger zoo and the tiger park in Sriracha is that the tigers here are well-groomed, not drugged, well-fed and happy.

In this tiger zoo you can interact with baby tigers who are only 1.5-2 months old, with teenage tigers and of course with adult tigers.

They take you there on an excursion, it comes as part of the Tiger Zoo + Nong Nooch Garden and costs only 900 baht. Or get there yourself.
In any case, it is worth noting that photos and communication with tigers are always for an additional fee and are NOT included in the price of the excursion.

I perfectly understand people who come to Pattaya on vacation and do not want to overpay 2-3 times for excursions offered by the tour operator. And there are so many street agencies that your eyes run wide and you don’t know who to turn to so as not to be deceived and get an honest ride.
Therefore, if you want, write in the comments, I will share the contacts of the travel agency with which we travel ourselves and recommend to friends. I am confident in the quality of their services and prices, because I heard only rave reviews from all the readers who vacationed with them.

As it is also called “crocodile”, it is also worth a visit. If you are by car or bike, you can easily get there yourself.

Photo of Pattaya - crocodile farm

Here is the crocodile farm on the map:

If there is no transport, don't worry. The price of the guided tour is the same as the entrance price, but you will be picked up from your hotel and brought back.

Price – 500 baht

At the crocodile farm you will see all kinds of crocodiles, alligators and shows with them. You can feed the animals and see the park of million-year-old stones.
Those who want to taste the crocodile can also join in.

There is a good children's playground on site.

Shows and entertainment

It’s simply unthinkable to come to Thailand and not attend at least a couple of local shows!

Recently, the Kaan show, incredible in scale and expense, appeared in Pattaya.

If you haven't read it, I recommend reading it

There is nothing like it anywhere in the world. If you have the opportunity to go, I recommend it.
Prices for visiting depend on the zone and start from 2,400 baht.

The most popular shows in Pattaya featuring transvestites:

Alcazar, Tiffany and Colosseum

There is no big difference between them, but the Colosseum is newer, larger and “richer”.

By price:

Alcazar – 600
Tiffany - 650
Colosseum – 500

If you live in the center of Pattaya, then you can walk to the Alcazar and Tiffany show yourself. They are held several times a day.
The Colosseum is located on Tepprasit Street, next to the cheapest food market in the city.

Also in Pattaya there are shows for very adults: the big eye show and the X-show.

X-show - 450
Big eye – 550.

Gardens and parks of Pattaya

If you love beautiful gardens, a lot of walking and want to enjoy the beauty of the local tropical nature, then in Pattaya you should go to the famous Nong Nooch Park.

The newest water park, which is among the best in the world and is considered No. 1 in Asia according to Tripadviser.

You can get there on your own using your own transport or by ordering a transfer from the water park on their website.
Usually the price is the same as with a guided tour, so decide for yourself.
They often offer discounts and promotions on Thai driving licenses for residents (business visa and student visa holders).

You need to go there for the whole day in the morning. Everyone likes it, even very small children, for whom there is a separate children's area.
The advantages include inexpensive and tasty food on site, separate “boar” zones, free photos of your races by e-mail and paid framed photos (300 baht) from a local photographer.

Price for an excursion to the Ramayana – 1250/1100

This aqua couple is already 4 years old, which of course makes him a little tired. Of the minuses, some slides are often closed and do not compensate for this glaring fact.
On the plus side, there is a surfing area that teenagers love.

I would also add as a disadvantage the expensive food and drinks on site, but the food is tasteless and the drinks too.

Plus, there is evening skiing, when the main part of the water park is closed, but a children's area, surfing and swimming in the waves are left. We were there for the promotion and we liked it.

Price – 1350/1250

Museums and temples of Pattaya

Strangely enough, there are a lot of museums and temples in Pattaya. Of course, they are inferior to the Louvre and the Tretyakov Gallery, but at a beach resort this is forgivable.

In my opinion, worth a visit:

A new gallery-interactive museum dedicated to the works of Van Gogh, Monet and Renoir.
In it you can “open” canvases by throwing balls at them, get acquainted with the work of great artists and a description of their life path, watch many great paintings that are broadcast using the latest projectors on the walls and ceiling.

Van Gogh in Pattaya – Art Gallery Hello Van Gogh!

This museum will appeal to both adults and children, as you can lie around, eat and drink, take photographs, and simply enjoy painting to the accompaniment of classical music.

The Hello Van Gogh gallery is located on the Sukhumvit highway. You can take a white tuk-tuk for 20 baht one way and the same way back.
Entrance to the gallery - 300 baht.

Or go there as part of the “Luxury of Siam” excursion. It includes a visit not only to the Van Gogh Gallery, but also to the Palace of the Chicken King + show, which also deserves attention.
Price – 1200 baht.

Rippley's Museum - Believe It or Not

An entertainment attraction located on the second floor of the Royal Garden shopping center in the center of Pattaya.
You can get there by tuk tuk for 10 baht from Jomtien, Naklua and other areas.

In addition to this museum, there is a horror room, a wax museum and other entertainment.

Teddy Bear Museum

The Teddy Bear Museum is in constant demand among all categories of tourists. Bears from different countries are carefully collected here, in a variety of images and situations.
In my opinion, the entry price is too high, but you can go once.
The price on your own is 500 baht.
With an excursion – 1000/700 according to the “Children’s Adventures” program.

Located on Beach Road in the heart of Pattaya:

It is difficult to answer the question of which massage parlor in Pattaya is the best, because there is none. At the same time, there are more than a thousand massage parlors in the city and it’s worth going to any nearest one.

The main rules that should be followed in order not to get into trouble.

Do not go to massage parlors on the mean streets - Volkin Street, in the alleys of Boys Town and neighboring ones, unless of course you want to get a massage “with a continuation”.

Choose a massage parlor that is literally prettier. My experience suggests that the cleaner, more well-groomed, and more beautiful the salon, the more carefully they select staff and treat clients. At the same time, the prices there will be the same as everywhere else: 200 baht for Thai massage and foot massage, 300 baht for oil massage, etc.

Take a stronger aunt or uncle as your masseuse. Express your wishes before the session. Don't worry, they don't speak English well, so sign language will come in handy.

If you have skin diseases, pregnancy, or any other conditions, it is better not to go or warn the massage therapist.

If you really liked the massage, it’s not a sin to leave a tip. The usual tip in this case is 50-100 baht. You should not give in coins; it is perceived as humiliation.

Spa salons and saunas

There are spa salons in Pattaya, there is no point in describing them all. The most expensive ones are those at hotels. Prices for services in them tend to reach outer space.
If you want to get a quality massage or spa service, there are 2 Helth Land centers, one next to Thepprasit night market, right on Sukhumvit, and the second on North Street, next to the large Tesco Lotus.
They are popular among Thais, people sign up there, because if you come just like that, there may not be room.
Certified masters work there and this is certainly not a massage on Jomtien beach.
Prices are a little higher. Massage from 400 baht, spa programs from 1000 baht.

Jomtien Sauna in Pattaya

The most affordable sauna in Pattaya with an excellent steam room in which the wood was brought all the way from Finland.

The surroundings are very simple, but whoever comes to take a steam bath and not for glamor is just right.

There are two steam rooms - a Turkish hammam and a classic steam room.
The temperature is maintained, there are ice baths (really ice), an outdoor pool, massage, a cafe and exercise equipment.
Entrance is only 200 baht for the whole day. Open until 20 pm.

Sauna Mari Jari

Russian sauna, a whole complex on Wat Bun street. Entry price is 350 baht for the whole day, this includes access to the pool and steam rooms.
This is the most popular sauna among local Russian expats.

New Japanese spa sauna Yunomori Onsen Spa Pattaya

Yunomori Sauna Yunomori Onsen & Spa Pattaya is a magical place. The entrance price is a little higher compared to others - 450 baht per person, but the sauna is amazing.
In addition to the usual steam rooms, there are also Japanese ones and, in general, a new building, excellent service and many additional services.

Yunomori Onsen Spa Pattaya on the map:

Pattaya beaches

The beaches in the city are quite mediocre, so don't expect much from them.
The best beaches in Pattaya are the beach near the Asia Hotel on Pratamnak (soi 4), the beaches in the north near the Centara Hotel. In the south - at the Ambassador, Dor-Shada, Botany Beach hotels.
These beaches are better because they usually have cleaner sand and water.
New sand was brought to Jomtien, but garbage is still thrown out of the sea, and it is also left behind by locals and tourists.
Swimming is possible, it differs from day to day and can be either clean or not so clean.

The best beaches near Pattaya are:

How to save on insurance?

Insurance abroad is required. Any appointment is very expensive and the only way to avoid paying out of pocket is to choose an insurance policy in advance. We have been applying for many years on the website, which gives the best prices for insurance and selection along with registration takes only a couple of minutes.

I deliberately did not include in the list some popular attractions, the visit of which I consider optional. For example, the Mini Siam park, the local aquarium in Pattaya - they are morally and physically outdated and there is no point in going there.
